About Us
We’re twenty- and thirtysomething Christians seeking God, living intentionally and striving to impact the world around us. Through RELEVANT, Neue and REJECT APATHY, we try to publish ideas that break stereotypes, challenge the status-quo and spur a generation to know God and change the world. It’s pretty simple, really.
Cameron Strang founded RELEVANT Media Group on June 1, 2000. We're a self-contained, for-profit business not affiliated with any other companies, denominations or organizations. We published books from 2001-2006, launched RELEVANTmagazine.com in March 2002, and the print magazine in March 2003. We've been adding new products pretty much every year since then, including Neue Magazine ("Ideas Shaping the Future of the Church"), REJECT APATHY, RELEVANT.fm, the RELEVANT Magazine College Guides and more.
You can subscribe to RELEVANT for only $14.95/yr (6 issues)—50 percent off the newsstand rate. With each subscription, you'll also get four quarterly editions of the Live from the RELEVANT Studio CD featuring exclusive performances and B-Sides from our favorite bands. Six magazines and 4 CDs of exclusive music for under $15. You can't beat that!
OUR PURPOSE
RELEVANT Media Group is a multimedia company whose purpose is to impact culture and give voice to what God is doing in and through our generation. We look at how God is speaking today—how we can see Him through His church, through culture, His word, creativity and living with purpose. We believe encountering God changes lives, so our magazines look at ways we can live that out in tangible, intentional and sacrificial ways. And yes, we talk about culture and real-life issues that other faith-based magazines likely would shy away from because, well, that's real life and we figure why not talk about it.
OUR NAME
Contrary to some people's opinions, our name has nothing to do with "being relevant." No, it's about showing that no matter what you may think modern Christian culture or religion in general, a relationship with God is relevant and essential to a fulfilled life. It's that God is relevant, not us.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
RELEVANT is a multimedia company looking to impact culture with the message that even though modern Christian culture may be seen as irrelevant by many, a personal relationship with God is a relevant — and vital — aspect of a fulfilled life. We want to engage people in a deeper conversation about faith. We want to challenge worldviews and cause people to see God outside the box they’ve put Him in.
We believe that God is alive and speaking both inside and outside the four walls of the church. That’s why we cover life issues and entertainment next to social justice and challenging faith topics— to look at the things influencing our lives and world, and how we can make a difference. We believe a lot can be learned by looking more deeply at things that challenge you. But we also believe in the importance of the Church and want to stop the mass exodus of our generation leaving it. We want to enact change from within (which is one of the reasons we started Neue).
Christians can’t be complacent living in a Christian bubble and never engaging the world they live in. We want to live the way Jesus did, hanging out with the very people religious leaders turned up their nose at. Through relationship, love and understanding, the world was changed. We don’t believe believers should be known primarily for legalism and bigotry. We believe in dialogue — about Truth, about faith, about freedom in Christ.
Whether 20 years into it or just starting out, if you’re at this website you’re probably on a spiritual journey. Christianity is not a destination. No one has it all figured out. And because of that you’ll find that the articles in RELEVANT and our other magazines probably ask more questions than give answers, which is something we feel is vital to our spiritual growth. We need to never stop pursuing Truth and authenticity with passion.
But we do believe. We believe that eternal life and the only true freedom is found in Christ. We believe that a relationship with Him changes things forever. You are not the person you used to be after you find Him. You may not be perfect — we’re all sinners, after all — but you don’t live the way you used to. Jesus told us to be in the world, yet not of it. We’re supposed to stand out and make a difference. We’re supposed to live for something bigger than ourselves.
That’s not something we can magically attain overnight. Following Christ and figuring out what it means to be like Him is a lifelong quest. It’s the hardest, longest and most rewarding thing we will ever undertake. It is what will define us — not only in this life, but the life to come.
For more information about Christianity, we recommend checking out the Bible (it is the source, after all) and finding a good local church where you can meet other people like you. (In case you missed that in-sentence link, we have a directory of good ones right here.) For all of you who want more theology about the Christian faith, here goes. We borrowed this from a church we like:
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the written Word of God. It leads us to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Being given by God the Scriptures are both fully and verbally inspired by God. Therefore, as originally given, the Bible is free of error in all it teaches. Each book is to be interpreted according to its context and purpose. All believers are exhorted to study the Scriptures and diligently apply them to their lives. The Scriptures are the authoritative and normative rule and guide of all Christian life, practice and doctrine.
God Is Triune
There is one God: infinite, eternal, almighty, and perfect in holiness, truth and love. In the unity of the godhead there are three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-existent, co-equal, co-eternal. The Father is not the Son and the Son is not the Holy Spirit, yet each is truly Deity. One God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – is the foundation of Christian faith and life.
God the Father
God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is faithful to every promise, works all things together for good to those who love Him, and in His unfathomable grace gave His Son Jesus Christ for mankind’s redemption. He made man for fellowship with Himself, and intended that all creation should live to the praise of His glory.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He was perfect in nature, teaching and obedience. He is fully God and fully man. He was always with God and is God. He is the only Savior for the sins of the world, having shed His blood and died a vicarious death on Calvary’s cross. By His death in our place, He revealed the divine love and upheld divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. Having redeemed us from sin, the third day He rose bodily from the grave, victorious over death and the powers of darkness and for a period of 40 days appeared to more than 500 witnesses, performing many convincing proofs of His resurrection. He ascended into heaven where, at God’s right hand, He intercedes for His people and rules as Lord over all. He is the Head of His body, the Church.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. Through the proclamation of the Gospel He persuades men to repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord. By the same Spirit a person is led to trust in divine mercy. The Holy Spirit unites believers to Jesus Christ in faith, brings about the new birth and dwells within the regenerate. The Holy Spirit has come to glorify the Son who in turn came to glorify the Father. He will lead the Church into a right understanding and rich application of the truth of God’s Word.
The Church
The Church is not a religious institution or denomination. Rather, the Church universal is made up of those who have become genuine followers of Jesus Christ and have personally appropriated the Gospel. The Church exists to worship and glorify God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It also exists to serve Him by faithfully doing His will in the earth. This involves a commitment to see the Gospel preached and churches planted in all the world for a testimony. The ultimate mission of the Church is the making of disciples through the preaching of the Gospel.
