Advertising Account Manager

RELEVANT magazine is seeking a marketing-savvy advertising account manager to work as a key member of our sales team. This important role will work to develop relationships with advertising clients, understand their marketing needs, consult on their marketing strategies to effectively reach our audience, and sell advertising opportunities on RELEVANT’s platforms that maximize the client's impact and RELEVANT’s revenue.

Founded in 2000, RELEVANT has experienced extraordinary audience growth in the last couple of years, and now consistently reaches 5-10 million people a month through our magazine and digital platforms. Not unexpectedly, most of that growth has come through our web, multimedia and social media platforms, and our revenue model has drastically changed too. But we're just scratching the surface of what's now possible.

The advertising account manager position is a great opportunity for a goal-driven self-starter who wants to be part of a big season of growth. Our ideal candidate has strong sales experience and a proven track record of creating revenue growth. This job requires the individual to have a thorough knowledge of advertising strategy, media and client interaction. The candidate should be up to date with print, multimedia and web marketing trends. The candidate should be well-rounded with experience in different fields and have good communication, presentation and writing skills.

Because RELEVANT sits at the crossroads of the Christian and mainstream marketplaces, the ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of both markets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

— Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising or related field of study.
— A genuine passion for RELEVANT’s audience, subject matter and purpose, and a desire to help organizations/companies effectively reach our audience.
— Previous experience in sales, marketing agency, media, customer service or other related fields.
— Strong negotiation skills.
— Deadline and detail-oriented.
— Proven track record of building rapport with clients and developing long-term client relationships.
— Strong communication skills, and proficiency in word processing, sales and spreadsheet software.
— The ability to multi-task on numerous accounts or campaigns.
— Experience with CRM platforms, analyzing media trends and formulating actionable plans.
— Ability to work under tight deadlines and sales goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

— Present and sell print, digital, audio and video advertising opportunities to new and existing clients.
— Evolve our advertising revenue in a changing media landscape by pursuing partnership and custom content opportunities with clients.
— Prospect and contact potential advertising clients.
— Reach (and exceed!) agreed upon sales targets on deadline.
