culture correspondent

Part-Time Retainer | Remote (U.S. only)
$100/HR

RELEVANT sits at the intersection of faith and culture, and this seat is the culture half. We're looking for a correspondent to be our voice in music, film, TV and the creator world — the person in the room who already knew about the artist everyone's about to discover, and who can carry that taste on mic and on camera.

This is a paid weekly retainer for just a few hours a week — a couple of assigned interviews, plus possible podcast or social appearances. Premium work at a premium rate, built for a working creator or media personality with room on their plate — we're happy to be one commitment among your others, as long as you’re committed to being available for the interviews and content we need each week.

What you'll do

  • Conduct 2–3 interviews a week with musicians, filmmakers, actors, comedians and creators — we’ll book them and assign them. You can suggest ones you want us to pursue, but mostly we’ll bring them to you. Your main role is to bring the curiosity and questions to each interview.

  • Flex with the moment: when the internet hands culture a main character, a viral debate or a phenomenon everyone's processing, you help RELEVANT meet it

  • Be a face of the brand: conduct interviews on video, which appear in our social videos and on our podcasts

  • Bring ideas that elevate our social content — the angles, moments and formats that make culture coverage hit for this audience. Each week, you can say hey I want to make a social video talking about "this,” we greenlight it and you do it.

  • Get featured credit on the stories built from your interviews — no writing required; our editorial team can produce the articles that come from your interviews

  • Potentially take a recurring seat on the RELEVANT Podcast

Who you are

  • You have great taste. Bands, movies, TV, the internet — you know what's cool before the algorithm does

  • You're naturally curious and ask great questions

  • You are RELEVANT's target audience; you know what the brand should cover because it’s what you’re into

  • You're comfortable — ideally great — on camera and on mic; this is a new media seat, not a writing desk

We're not looking for a long résumé. We're looking for taste, voice and wit.

To be clear

This is a freelance role that we’ll send about 3 hours of assignments to each week. Set hours are not required, but schedule flexibility is required to be able to conduct interviews during the work week.
