Advertising Sales Director

RELEVANT, the leading media company reaching Christian twenty- and thirty-somethings, is seeking to add a growth-minded advertising sales director to lead our advertising sales team and marketing partnerships. Founded in 2000, RELEVANT has experienced extraordinary audience growth in the last couple of years and now consistently reaches more than 7 million people a month through our print magazine, website, podcasts, video and social channels.  You will be responsible for overseeing and developing the sales strategies to drive company revenue in an ever-changing media landscape.

The ideal candidate is a media and marketing expert that has great insight into RELEVANT's unique audience, mission and market. The position will focus on expanding our advertising revenue growth momentum, and help spot the right opportunities and strategies to increase partner effectiveness and take revenue to the next level. 

Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of marketing leadership and growth. They are a goal-driven self-starter with a thorough knowledge of strategy, budgeting and media. The candidate should be up to date with print, multimedia, social media, web and native advertising trends. The candidate should be well-rounded with good communication, presentation, leadership and writing skills. 

Because RELEVANT sits at the crossroads of the Christian and mainstream marketplaces, the ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of both markets. Increasing national mainstream advertising on RELEVANT's platforms, as well as developing new advertising and partnership models is a primary focus of this position. 

Marketing agency experience or digital media sales is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grow our advertising and partnership revenue by leading effective, innovative strategies in a changing marketplace

  • Lead client partnerships, consulting on best marketing strategies and ideas for them to impact the RELEVANT audience 

  • Oversee and train the ad sales team
  • Establish sales territories, quotas, and goals for the sales team
  • Analyze sales statistics to identify areas of improvement
  • Track results and trends regularly for business forecasting
  • Report on team and individual performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, advertising, media or related field of study

  • Several years of sales, agency or marketing experience with quantifiable success

  • A strong knowledge of, and genuine passion for, RELEVANT’s audience, subject matter and purpose
  • Expertise in print, multimedia and web marketing
  • The ability to multi-task on numerous accounts or campaigns
  • Experience analyzing market research and formulating actionable plans
  • Effective time management and organizational skills

Advertising Account Manager

RELEVANT magazine is seeking a marketing-savvy advertising account manager to work as a key member of our sales team. This important role will work to develop relationships with advertising clients, understand their marketing needs, consult on their marketing strategies to effectively reach our audience, and sell advertising opportunities on RELEVANT’s platforms that maximize the client's impact and RELEVANT’s revenue.

Founded in 2000, RELEVANT has experienced extraordinary audience growth in the last couple of years, and now consistently reaches 5-10 million people a month through our magazine and digital platforms. Not unexpectedly, most of that growth has come through our web, multimedia and social media platforms, and our revenue model has drastically changed too. But we're just scratching the surface of what's now possible.

The advertising account manager position is a great opportunity for a goal-driven self-starter who wants to be part of a big season of growth. Our ideal candidate has strong sales experience and a proven track record of creating revenue growth. This job requires the individual to have a thorough knowledge of advertising strategy, media and client interaction. The candidate should be up to date with print, multimedia and web marketing trends. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Audio and Video Editor

RELEVANT, the leading brand reaching Christian twenty- and thirtysomethings, has grown a lot in the last couple of years. We currently reach more than 7 million people a month through all of our platforms, and the majority of that is web and video. Because of that, we have a ton of innovative multimedia plans in motion and are looking for a versatile multimedia designer and video editor to join our team.

This is a flexible position that could be either full-time or part-time, depending on experience. 

We're an indie company creating innovative, missional content experiences on a variety of platforms, and our video and multimedia plans are continually evolving. The ideal candidate is a phenomenal motion graphics designer with a passion for creative excellence. They also have a great "eye," with experience shooting and editing a wide variety of video projects. 

This is a highly collaborative in-house position that works for the director of audio and video to ideate and create compelling content that will connect with our audience. The ideal candidate is our target reader. They know what makes RELEVANT unique, and have vision to help take the brand to the next level. 

Job Requirements

Motion graphic projects will include creating story openers for the RELEVANT tablet editions, commercials, show openers, content videos, broadcast transition graphics and ads. Videography projects will include being camera op and editor for RELEVANT.tv studio shoots—including the RELEVANT Studio Sessions, interviews, short films, shows and more. A major focus of the job will be creating new and exciting video content for the brand. Other creative opportunities may include photography, lighting, set design and other design. We're looking for a versatile creative who enjoys wearing multiple hats.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of two years experience in professional video editing or motion design, with portfolio.
  • Personal knowledge of RELEVANT's products, market, audience, mission and voice. 
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe editing and design software suite.
  • Photography experience is preferred.

Operations Director

RELEVANT, the leading media company reaching Christian twenty- and thirtysomethings, is seeking to add an experienced Operations Director to our team. The role will be key in leading how we function and shaping how we grow in this next season. It is a senior executive level position, and will be key to improving our operations, finances, planning and culture. 

Founded in 2000, RELEVANT now consistently reaches more than 5 million people a month through our platforms. But like all media companies, sustainability and growth is a moving target, and we're looking for a leader who can come in and lead vital areas of our company: finance/budgeting, operations/HR, project management and sales. We want a leader who has an eye for analytics, process and communication.

The Operations Director will partner with our department leaders to craft corporate priorities, create plans and budgets and oversee implementation of those initiatives. It will watch analytics to see how those plans are going and spot opportunities for improvements. It will work with our Finance Director to budget and manage our time and resources. It will spot opportunities to improve our culture, develop our team and make sure we are operating productively. (We're a young, creative team, so some times that might feel like corralling cats.) It will provide the plans and structure that will allow us to innovate and grow, while having fun and maintaining profitability.

Our ideal candidate has a proven track record for leading innovation and business growth. They probably owned their own business, or held a senior operational position at one. Copy Editor

RELEVANT, the leading content platform reaching Christian millennials, is looking for a detail-oriented, versatile copy editor to join our team.

RELEVANT's copy editor must love words, details and consistency. With a rock-solid command of language, spelling and grammar, our copy editor must ensure that each content item is well-written, error-free, factual and in line with RELEVANT's voice and style parameters. 

Our ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, creative and very fast-paced setting and is able to provide high-quality copy editing, fact checking and proofreading under tight, constantly shifting deadlines. A four-year degree and at least a year of professional copy editing experience are required. A strong proficiency in AP style is a must.

Our copy editor will copy edit, fact check and proofread all web articles, magazine articles, social media, ads, marketing copy, newsletters, videos and a range of other work across different media. The job also will include writing regularly, so a deep knowledge of RELEVANT's editorial scope and mission is a must. Writing assignments may include daily articles for the website; headlines, subtitles and sidebar content for the magazine; marketing copy and other various items, as well as formatting/publishing web content as needed.

The copy editor will manage all unsolicited article submissions, ensuring that ideas are discussed at editorial planning meetings, and responding to the writers. 

The copy editor will manage the creation and deployment of our weekly newsletters, ensuring the content is engaging the audience and working with the analytics manager to use data to evolve the format and improve the reach of the content.

This is a highly collaborative in-house position. The right candidate will demonstrate strong skills in spelling, grammar, syntax and AP style, with exceptional attention to detail. 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one year copy editing experience.
  • Deep knowledge of AP style. 
  • Personal knowledge of RELEVANT's products, market and audience. 
  • Ability to learn and adopt the standards in the RELEVANT style guide, which is based on AP style.
  • Experience with Adobe InCopy.
  • Resourcefulness and precision. The copy editor must ensure that all factual information is accurate.
  • Personal knowledge of RELEVANT's audience, content focus and Christian mission
  • Commitment to creating the best final product possible—respecting the writer’s creative voice but bringing consistency and clarity to all of RELEVANT's content.
  • Editorial finesse, objectivity and restraint. Specifically, our copy editor must be able to vary the speed and scope of their editing depending on the needs of the project while maintaining accuracy.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and a sense of humor in an environment where rules are always changing and processes are constantly being revised.
