Operations Manager

RELEVANT, the leading media company reaching Christian twenty- and thirtysomethings, is seeking to add an experienced operations manager to our team. The role will wear many hats, from bookkeeping, to ad trafficking, to reporting and office management. The ideal candidate is organized, positive and thorough, and is naturally adept in analytics, process and communication. It is a key position in managing our daily operations, finances, clients and culture. 

Founded in 2000, RELEVANT now consistently reaches more than 5 million people a month through our platforms. But like all independent media companies, sustainability and growth is a moving target, and we're constantly having to adapt. This position is a steadying force in that reality, managing many spinning plates with a calm confidence.

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Finance Director and advertising sales team to traffic all advertising campaigns — from invoicing the client, to collecting and deploying the campaign assets, to reporting on the campaign effectiveness, to collecting the invoice payment.

The position will also provide weekly reports to department heads — from web and social media analytics, to circulation and revenue — keeping our team aware of the vital data we use to make strategic decisions.

The Operations Manager will also be involved in various finance and office management aspects, from general bookkeeping (A/R, A/P) to making sure our office is running smoothly. The ideal candidate is someone who will spot opportunities to improve our culture, improve efficiency and make sure we are operating productively. (We're a young, creative team, so some times that might feel like corralling cats.)

Our ideal candidate has bookkeeping experience with QuickBooks, handling budgets and invoicing. They have experience with digital ad management software (like DFP) and web analytics.

The ideal candidate will be a goal-driven, organized self-starter. The candidate should be well-rounded people person with experience in different fields and have good communication, presentation and leadership skills. 

Because RELEVANT sits at the crossroads of the Christian and mainstream marketplaces, the ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of both markets.

  • Collect and deploy creative assets for all paid and internal advertising campaigns (print, digital, podcast, e-blast and newsletter)

  • Monitor progress on ad campaigns and share findings with account managers on a bi-weekly basis

  • Invoice advertising clients and follow up on past due invoices

  • Bookkeeping (A/R, A/P), running weekly financial reports for company leadership

  • Monitor programmatic ad networks and confirm that they are abiding by our block lists

  • Monitor digital inventory and sales staff updated on over- and undersold ad zones

  • Field all unsolicited advertising leads coming into pipedrive (Fishing Pipeline) and send to appropriate account managers

  • Pull weekly RELEVANT Reports (stats on podcast downloads, website traffic, video views, circulation, social media)

  • Oversee office operations, supply ordering, etc.

  • Test and send RELEVANT Weekly Newsletter

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration, communications, finance or related field

  • A strong knowledge of, and genuine passion for, RELEVANT’s audience, subject matter and purpose

  • Experience with budgeting and analytics

  • The ability to multi-task on numerous accounts or campaigns

  • Bookkeeping experience with QuickBooks

  • Experience with digital advertising networks, including DFP

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Good communicator
